A boardwalk has been laid across the most difficult part of the 4.3 km route – the bog. Along it you can enjoy the landscape of the Vainagiai reserve and Vainagiai hillfort. By the trail stands a small observation tower, from which you can see a beaver colony and the dam the beavers have built. The trail by Lake Vainagiai is designed to introduce woodland key habitats and the forest. The Vainagiai nature trail is about 4.3 km long and takes about 2 hours. We suggest doing it by bike or on foot. On your way around Lake Vainagiai you'll get to know a variety of forest plants, forest clearings, woodland key habitats and much more. The lake covers 9 ha and has an average depth of 3 metres; it has no inflowing streams and is fed by rain and springs. The Juodupis stream flows out of the lake, and you'll cross it on a wooden footbridge. You'll also get to know mosses, admire heathland, find out what woodland key habitats are and visit a raised bog.
