If you love modern art, come without delay to see one of Lithuania's newest modern art museums. The building, designed by the famous architect Daniel Libeskind, is itself a work of modern architecture and has won several architecture awards. In the museum you will see exhibitions of modern Lithuanian art reflecting a wide range of styles and ideas and the main processes and development of Lithuanian art over the last 60 years. Most of the artists in the collection are still active today and are recognised in Lithuania and abroad. Exhibitions change to reflect different artists and themes. When you drop in, you can watch films, take part in educational activities, listen to concerts and, of course, watch art performances. Built in 2018, the museum is a gift to the public from the Lithuanian modern art collectors Danguolė and Viktoras Butkus. It is one of the newest museums in Vilnius. The museum was built for a private collection of more than 5,000 works. In the museum you can also find a digitally recreated fragment of the remarkable fresco created in 1972 by Algirdas Steponavičius and Birutė Žilytė for the "Pušelė" sanatorium.
