Karmazinai Nature Trail

Length: 6 km. The Karmazinai Nature Trail is a real horn of plenty: here you'll find the largest barrow cemetery around Vilnius, the widest stretch of the Neris within the park, the highest bluff with the most steps to its top and… the most places to grill and enjoy the harmony of forest and river! There are as many as five of them on this trail, each with tables, benches, fire pits and shelters to hide from the changeable and not always friendly Lithuanian weather… The geographer Č. Kudaba wrote about the view that opens up from the Velniakampis bluff in the middle of the trail: "The right bank of the Neris rises, with fairly steep slopes, springs at their foot. The river, as if bouncing off them, makes that bend so unpleasant for raftsmen in the past – Velniakampis (the Devil's Corner)." This 60-metre hill has been known to locals since old times: it is said that devils and witches used to hold feasts here. Today, instead of mythical creatures, it is busy with visitors, because the viewing platform on the hill opens up a stunning landscape of the slowly winding loops of the Neris and the green forests across the river.
