Bradeliškės Hillfort 3D Viewing Stand
With the help of archaeologists and architects, the Neris Regional Park Directorate reconstructed the former appearance of the Bradeliškės hillfort and transferred it onto a new 3D viewing stand on the Dūkšta nature trail. Archaeologists often regret that all Lithuanian hillforts have come down to us looking completely different from the days when our ancestors lived on them. The slopes have slid down, the defensive ramparts have shrunk, the ditches once dug here have filled in, and the buildings that stood here have vanished... Yet both specialists and tourists visiting hillforts are always curious to travel back in time and answer the question: what did our majestic hillforts really look like centuries ago? On the new stand, when you line up the marked red line with the present outline of the hillfort, a majestic view lost over the centuries opens up before you – the castle's wooden towers, huge steep slopes and the bed of the Dūkšta stream flowing in a completely different place.
