Trail length: 1.5 km. The Dūkštos oak wood is the largest and one of the oldest natural oak woods in Lithuania. In the shade of oaks more than 200 years old, many species of rare and endangered animals, plants, fungi and lichens find a home. Here you may come across as many as 7 bat species, the edible dormouse, deer, wild boar, the green woodpecker, the great spotted woodpecker, the black stork, the lesser spotted eagle, owls, frogs that "sing" like birds – fire-bellied toads – and other, smaller creatures… Stop by the mysterious Airėnai stone with signs and make a wish: it is believed that a small offering to the stone (a flower, a coin or something else) helps wishes come true.
