Length: 5 km. The Dūkšta nature trail is one of the most demanding routes in Neris Regional Park, requiring a lot of physical effort, but it is also the most interesting and well worth doing. Many years ago, the melting waters of the Ice Age cut deep into the land, creating a Lithuanian canyon of unrepeatable beauty – the valley of the Dūkšta stream. Here, in the wooded and winding valley, not only rare species of plants and animals have found a home but also unique witnesses of the past – the Bradeliškės and Buivydai hill forts and the Karmazinai sacred hill, which resembles a pyramid. Along the trail you can visit them, climb two high outcrops, see the Holy Oak of Daubos, the thickest in the area, and enjoy a fine panorama of the Neris valley from the Oak Hill viewpoint. While looking for the treasure trove of natural and cultural heritage hidden in the Dūkšta valley, don't forget to admire the rushing of Lithuania's only mountain stream. The Dūkšta is very fast and stony, and over its last few kilometres it drops as much as 20 metres! During spring floods it becomes a particularly fast river, whose wild current is used by water-tourism "extreme" enthusiasts. At other times of year the Dūkšta gathers water from clear springs and babbles merrily towards the Neris over mossy stones beloved of the laumės.
