Iron Fox
5.01 reviewŠiauliai
According to the Lithuanian Book of Records, this is the largest animal sculpture: it weighs almost 7 tonnes and is about 15 metres long, 6.6 metres high and 4.15 metres wide. In the steel heart of the "Iron Fox" (1.20 m high and 0.90 m wide) there is a capsule with words to future generations engraved on a copper plate. It is the work of Šiauliai designer Vilius Puronas, created to mark the millennium of the name of Lithuania. The designer joked that Vilnius has its legend of the iron wolf, while Šiauliai can be proud of its iron fox – a symbol of cleverness and wisdom. She arrived on the shore of Lake Talkša on 23 December 2009.
