As Klaipėda and Lithuania marked the centenary of the restoration of the state, the port city's Rotarians gave an extraordinary gift. Six of the city's clubs joined forces and funded the restoration of the Old Town map on the side of a house. At the gift handover ceremony held on 28 July 2017, Klaipėda Mayor Vytautas Grubliauskas thanked the Rotarians, who change the face of the city with initiatives like this. The decorative panel was originally created in 2004, commissioned by the municipality to mark Lithuania's accession to the European Union. Over thirteen years the wall of the Old Town house had crumbled, and the artwork, loved by residents and visitors alike, had suffered.
