Stasys Povilaitis's Autograph
The autograph of singer and songwriter Stasys Povilaitis, which decorates the façade of the Palanga Concert Hall, has been officially recognised as the largest signature in the country. This Lithuanian record was registered by the agency "Factum". Povilaitis lived and performed in Palanga for a long time, and his name is very closely tied to the resort. For decades his songs, loved all over Lithuania, rang out at the former Palanga summer stage, which after reconstruction became the modern Palanga Concert Hall. So the maestro's autograph on the façade of the Concert Hall gives meaning to the history of Lithuanian popular music and to the inseparable bond between Povilaitis and this hall. The autograph appeared on the façade after its creators won a competition announced by Palanga City Municipality to commemorate Stasys Povilaitis. The entries were assessed by a specially formed commission, which chose the project "Autografas" (Autograph) as the winner. The autograph is 6.96 m long and 1.19 m high. It was unveiled on the façade of the Palanga Concert Hall on 1 June 2019. The "Autografas" composition was created by sculptor Romas Klimavičius and architect Gerda Antanaitytė.
