Palanga Fairy Tale Park
This distinctive park of Lithuanian fairy tales attracts visitors not only with its very cosy setting and playful sculptures but also with unusual ideas: here you can not only "touch" the fairy tales but also listen to them. The park has been open since August 2016. To make this nearly two-hectare leisure space attractive to visitors of all ages, the infrastructure came first: new paths were laid, lighting was installed and small landscape features were provided. The park presents sculptures inspired by Lithuanian fairy tales by the artists Andrius Petkus ("The Fox and the Jug"), Algis Kasparavičius ("Seku seku pasaką" – I'm Telling a Tale), Gediminas Mažintas ("The Bean") and Rolandas Šmitas ("The Sun and the Moon"). Each of them can be not only admired but also "tested": you can climb them, turn individual parts or play with them in other ways. According to A. Petkus, curator of the project's artistic side, great attention was paid not only to how attractive the sculptures are but, above all, to their artistic expression. Next to each sculpture there is an information plaque where you can not only read the tale but also, at the press of a special button, hear it told in the voice of Inga Valinskienė. At the opening, the tales were voiced in Lithuanian and English.
