Smiltynė is a great place for anyone staying in Klaipėda who wants to enjoy the refreshing Baltic Sea and soft sand dunes. You can get there by ferry. From the Old Smiltynė ferry terminal you can walk or cycle to Smiltynė Beach along paths that wind through the fragrant pine forests of the Curonian Spit. There are dedicated bicycle parking spaces. For a number of years Smiltynė Beach flew the internationally recognised Blue Flag quality label, but Klaipėda has not taken part in the programme since 2025. Smiltynė Beach is wide and clean, with beach volleyball, tennis and football courts, a children's playground, changing cabins and toilets. The beach is adapted for people with disabilities. Lifeguards and first-aid staff keep holidaymakers safe. There is also free Wi-Fi and a place to charge mobile phones. If lying on the beach all day gets boring, Smiltynė has other things to offer. Near the South Pier is one of the most visited museums in Lithuania – the Lithuanian Sea Museum, which attracts many local and foreign tourists. In Smiltynė you can also find the Curonian Spit National Park visitor centre, a yacht club and the 36 m high Hagen Hill, see the ship "Dubingiai", and admire early 20th-century villas and a traditional fisherman's homestead. With forest therapy growing in popularity, you can simply take a walk through the Smiltynė pine woods. What is more, from the New Smiltynė ferry terminal you can take a bus to Juodkrantė, Pervalka, Preila or Nida.
