The tree growing next to the Šiauliai Art Gallery was hung with shoes not by artists but by the teenagers who ride skateboards, roller skates and BMX bikes right here. Throwing a pair of worn-out, scuffed shoes into the tree in autumn, at the end of the season, became their traditional ritual.
