Rooster Clock Square / "Rooster" City Clock
Not rated yetŠiauliai
For many people, Rooster Clock Square on the pedestrian street is a place for pleasant meetings and dates. The clock stands at the intersection of the city's two main streets, right in the city centre. In Soviet times the city clock's rooster flapped its wings and announced every hour, but over time the rooster ran out of breath and the clock could not always be trusted to keep time. Now the symbol of central Šiauliai not only crows but also greets passers-by: "Welcome to Šiauliai!" The greeting is heard at 12:00 and 18:00 in Lithuanian, English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Romani and other languages.
