Sculpture "Medeinė"
Not rated yetVilnius
In one of the courtyards off Stiklių Street you can find a graceful girl riding a bear. Don't worry – both the animal and the woman are bronze, because this is the sculpture "Medeinė" by sculptor Marius Grušas. The work, which depicts the ancient Lithuanian goddess of forests and hunting, has been in Vilnius for a long time – it has stood in the courtyard since 1988. It was placed here for a reason: next door is the headquarters of the Lithuanian Hunters' and Fishers' Society, beside which the sculptor himself lived. By the way, as you look at the sculpture, notice that the bear wears a ring on one of its claws.
