Klaipėda Drama Theatre is housed in a building regarded as the oldest theatre building in Lithuania. The first stone theatre on this site was completed in 1818, and after a fire in 1854 the merchant Mason built a new building in 1857, three of whose façades survive to this day. The 2007–2015 reconstruction restored the historic colours of the façades. A professional Lithuanian theatre company started working in Klaipėda in 1935, and the post-war theatre was founded in 1945. Since 2017 the theatre has hosted the international theatre festival „TheATRIUM“ every May–June.
