Klaipėda Central Post Office Building
The Klaipėda post office complex, built in 1883–1893 to a design by architect H. Schoede, is one of the most ornate neo-Gothic buildings in the city. The complex consists of a two-storey post office building with attic floors and two single-storey side buildings – former storehouses with a stable and a coach house. The red clinker brick façades are decorated with green-glazed ceramic details and tall stepped gables, and the tower holds a carillon of 48 bells. The post office operated here until autumn 2019; the building now stands empty and carillon concerts have been suspended since 2024 because of the condition of the tower, so the architecture is admired from the outside.
