Abromiškės Manor Estate and Park
The Abromiškės manor estate is protected as a cultural heritage site of architectural, historical and landscape value. The manor was founded in 1571, and its history is linked to the Poniatowski, Bychowiec, de Raes and Plater families. The palace stands out for its architecture: a wooden classicist central part built in the early 19th century and brick wings added later. In the 19th century the manor was considered one of the most beautiful and best-kept manors in Lithuania. It had a lively cultural life, and a valuable library and collections of paintings were gathered here. On 27 June 1812 Napoleon spent the night at Abromiškės on his way to Vilnius. Most of the descendants of the Raes and Plater families who owned the manor were laid to rest in the nearby Sabališkės cemetery and the chapel there. Sadly, changing owners, the Soviet era and finally a fire badly ravaged the manor. The manor is now being revived. Guest accommodation and representative halls for cultural events, concerts, performances and conferences are being set up in the heritage building, and further work is planned on other buildings of the complex: the outbuilding, the stables and the mill. The improved infrastructure is intended to make the area more attractive to tourists, create new jobs for the community and strengthen the cultural and economic vitality of the locality. Please note: the manor's services (events, tours and accommodation) were scheduled to start from the 2026 summer season. Tours of the palace and other services must be arranged with the manor in advance, as the interior is not open for regular visits; the park and grounds can be visited.
