Žagarė "Bliūdas" – Švėtė River Dam
Not rated yetŽagarė
The dam is located in the town. More than 100 years ago there was a natural waterfall on the Švėtė where the dam now stands. A dam built in the 19th century flooded the waterfall. In the interwar period Strulis' mill stood here, driven by the current of the Švėtė. In Soviet times a new concrete dam was built, which the people of Žagarė call the "bliūdas" (the "bowl") because of its appearance. The mill has been converted into flats, where town residents now live.
