The old Vytautas Park lies closer to Vytautas Hill. In the park, planted from 1874, the tree-lined alleys and paths might seem to be laid out with no order at all. In fact, they were planned so that any building in the park could be reached easily. The fountains, flower beds and other decorations created by its founder, Ignacy Kwinta, the landowner of Jieznas, have not survived to this day, but this is still a place where calm and pleasant thoughts come to you. The park's alleys were named “Birutė”, “Love” and “Dreams”, or simply “Spruces” and “Lindens”. According to experts, the lindens here are truly exceptional: many of them branch into three or even four trunks, and their blossom smells stronger than usual. A monument to Vytautas the Great stands on the bank of the Nemunas. We recommend climbing nearby Vytautas Hill to admire the panorama of the Nemunas loops and, on your way out, visiting the oldest surviving kurhaus in Lithuania.
