"Druskupis" Mineral Water Evaporation Facility
The only one of its kind in Lithuania – the "Druskupis" mineral water evaporation facility in Birštonas, where you can enjoy especially healthy "sea effect" air. Residents of the resort and visitors can try open-air inhalations, strengthen their health and harden their bodies with light therapy. In Vytautas Jurgis Meška Park, in an open evaporation tower-pavilion of original architecture with a mineral water fountain and a salt gallery, mineral water flows down the walls of the evaporator and, under the action of sun and wind, evaporates naturally in the tower itself and within a radius of as much as 50–80 m around it, letting you breathe "sea effect" air enriched with beneficial minerals. Air saturated with droplets of mineral water has the same effect as breathing sea air, so you will feel as if you were walking along the seashore. Mineral water is supplied to the "Druskupis" evaporation tower from a mineral water borehole called "Rūta". The "sea effect" air produced by the evaporator makes it possible to combine the rehabilitation procedures carried out in Birštonas sanatoriums with healing by natural factors, which further strengthen the effect of treatment and help patients get back on their feet sooner. Breathing salt-laden air is particularly beneficial for people with various respiratory diseases; such air is also good for the skin – under the influence of mineral water it becomes smoother, more elastic and clearer. Meditating while watching the babbling water improves well-being and helps relieve nervous tension.
