Teddy Bear Figures

Do you see the columns with relief figures of bears eating bars of chocolate, which, like the building, are now a light colour? Perhaps you have noticed these bears before but never asked yourself why they are there? It turns out that in 1908 one of the four shops of the Lithuanian chocolate and sweet factory "Viktorija" opened in this building. Back then the columns and the bear reliefs were brown (like chocolate), and the shop itself was one of the most elegant in Vilnius. The "Viktorija" sweet factory is long gone (it was not rebuilt after the First World War), and only the chocolate-eating bears recall the glorious days of this sweet empire.
