A huge Easter egg greets passers-by all year round. This egg was only supposed to stand here temporarily. It was put up in 2001 and symbolised the revival of Užupis and the wait for the real sculpture. You see, at that time money was being collected for the Angel sculpture that was already being made, and which was to "hatch" from the egg. But as the egg stood there for a whole year, people grew used to the unusual sculpture. So when the "Angel" sculpture was unveiled in 2002, the "Egg" left Užupis not for oblivion but for another spot – the square where Šv. Stepono, Pylimo and Raugyklos streets meet. Here it fitted in perfectly with the ever-busy square surrounded by eclectic buildings.
