A total of 74 sculptures stand on the shore of Lake Galonas – 37 on each trail. The first trail leads over a hill, beyond which the waters of Lake Galonas sparkle; you can take them in by stepping off the trail and standing at the top of a small slope. A few dozen metres further on is the second trail, which also starts at a forest track and, like the first, is a loop. It lies a little further from the lake but winds through a boggy hollow, so you can see typical bog vegetation all around. Together the two Šarkiškės sculpture trails are less than a kilometre long, and with 74 wooden sculptures standing here, that works out at one every 10 metres. Their artistry may not amaze you, but their number will make an impression. The abundance of carvings, the nearby lake and the boggy hollow are the combination that makes it worth a one-hour detour.
