The National Gallery of Art holds more than 46,000 exhibits: paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, installations and video works. Although the main focus is on the works of art, the building itself also deserves attention. The architecture of this Soviet-era building has lost none of its charm. Its rather restrained appearance is enlivened by the mysterious annexes – black screens that arouse passers-by's curiosity. The gallery complex fits perfectly into the fast-changing urban setting of Konstitucijos Avenue, and the activities held here make it one of the most popular public spaces in the capital. Art classes, practical art workshops, guided tours, lectures and meetings with Lithuanian and foreign artists take place here.
