Manor of Stories

Not rated yetAnykščiai

The Manor of Stories, housed in a mysterious building long known as the "Okuličiūtė manor house", is an educational space for all children and grown-ups who love stories and mysteries. This place was born out of a great desire to nurture creativity and to foster a love of history, stories and books. In the manor house you are not only allowed but positively required to touch EVERYTHING! We aim to present well-known historical facts from an unexpected angle and to discover and highlight lesser-known details. In the Anykščiai Hall, the stories of the town and its surroundings await you, from the earliest times to the present day. Listen closely and you will hear the speech of local people. Handle the symbols of times gone by with your own hands. Can you crack the lock of the great book of legends? Or would you like to travel in time, becoming a character from the past for a moment? In the Manor Hall you will learn about the life that has bustled here since the mid-19th century. Was this building really built for the mysterious landowner Okuličiūtė? Could insurgents have hidden here with their weapons in 1863? What people lived here afterwards? Was the manor house really once a post office, a bailiff's office, a felt-boot workshop and even a grain store? And a library? You are invited to experience the past through play. The manor cellar is a place of secrets and chills – we invite only the bravest to visit it! Could the old landowner still be wandering between her brick walls? The attic is home to the area's most important writers. Discover their professions, learn their little-known pen names and touch these remarkable personalities with your own hands! The Manor of Stories is mainly aimed at children (the activities are especially suitable for pupils in grades 1–6), families and organised groups (school classes, children's camps, pre-school groups, children from day centres and so on).
