Liepkalnis

5.01 reviewVilnius

Liepkalnis hill rounds off the hilly relief of Pavilniai Regional Park. From the top you get a scenic panorama of the city of Vilnius and its surroundings, where urban and natural landscapes meet. To the east and north stretches Pavilniai Regional Park, known for the unique nature of the Vilnia valley and its diverse historical heritage. Travellers are captivated by the unique, glacier-shaped erosional Ribiškės hills, springs trickling down the ravine gullies and small brooks that merge in the valley into the swift Kaukysa stream. This striking, one-of-a-kind relief resembles a giant fan. To the west lies a wonderful panorama of Vilnius: the Old Town, the Hill of Three Crosses, new residential districts and the TV tower. Liepkalnis hill has been artificially raised and reaches 235 m. It is best known as a winter ski centre. The first rope tow on the hill was installed in 1984, and today it has a modern ski base and leisure complex. In winter there are downhill ski slopes, a snow park, equipment rental, a café and a ski school, and in summer there are toboggan runs.
