Kaunas Fortress Fort III

Fort III is one of the forts of Kaunas Fortress and is looked after by the public institution Kaunas Fortress Park. The fort is open to visitors: the restored rooms in the barracks are used for recreational and cultural activities, and it hosts tours, educational programmes and events, including the community's Shrove Tuesday and Midsummer celebrations, 16 February and 11 March commemorations, exhibitions, plays, concerts and the SteamPunk festival. A SteamPunk exhibition has been taking shape on the fort grounds since 2020, and in 2024 a wellness trail was opened around the fort. Bats hibernate in the fort's underground rooms.
