In the 1920s, resort guests and locals crossed a bridge over the Nemunas to reach the Island of Love, where there was a beach that was popular at the time. The left part of the island then belonged to Lithuania. A barbed-wire fence through the middle of the island divided it between Poland and Lithuania. Comfortable changing rooms and cloakrooms soon appeared on the island. A footbridge connected the resort bank with the island, and a steamboat carried people to its beach. The Island of Love beach operated until 1935. Today it is the Druskininkai botanical reserve.
