Youth Park

Youth Park was established in 1982 and covers 36.6 ha. About 14 ha of the park is taken up by naturally growing groups of pines, while the rest has been landscaped to form open and semi-open spaces, respectfully highlighting the local nature without altering the terrain. The park's chief project architect was V. Jodelė, with the architects A. Gercienė (landscaping) and S. Vaičaitytė. A couple of years later a group of sculptors created Lithuania's first composition of eight metal sculptures in the park, whose bright colours give the park a distinctive character. A good decade later the ensemble was joined by two more sculptures donated by foreign artists. Today Youth Park is adorned with well-kept flower beds and is suited to events and quiet relaxation: there are children's play, chess, sports, skateboarding and roller-skating and parkour areas, marked cycle paths and a bike track with jumps.
