Likiškiai Park is one of the youngest parks in the city; work on creating and planting it began in 1994. The park contains the highest hill in Alytus (165 m), which offers a fine panorama of the city. Next to the park stands the only monument in Lithuania to the Lithuanians who died in the Afghan war of 1979–1989. A grove of oak trees has been planted beside it in their memory.
