Šakotis Museum

Not rated yetDruskininkai

Called the "Lithuanian cake", šakotis (a spit-baked tree cake) leaves no one indifferent – this melt-in-the-mouth treat charms everyone who tastes it. You can find out how and from what šakotis is made by coming to the Romnesa restaurant-bakery and visiting the world's first and only Šakotis Museum set up right there. All the old and modern šakotis baking tools and other exhibits related to making this treat are collected here. As soon as you step into the museum, you will see a one-of-a-kind Guinness record holder – a šakotis 3.72 metres tall and weighing 86 kg. The most curious visitors at Romnesa can watch the whole baking process and taste a šakotis they have baked themselves over an open fire.
