Old Villages Trail

On this trail you'll visit the old suburban villages of Vilnius: Turniškės, Staviškės, Krempliai, Naujieji Verkiai and Verkių Riešė. On the 10-kilometre walk you'll also pass the site of the Vilnius hydroelectric power plant, which was started in the interwar period but never finished. You'll learn how the construction went and why the project was never completed. The official start of the trail is in Krempliai, but you can begin wherever suits you and walk clockwise. The whole trail is marked with arrows. Along the way you'll find obelisk-shaped boards with key information about the sights. The trail is a loop meant for walking. It follows narrow forest paths across the hilly terrain of Verkiai Regional Park.
