Ąžuolynas is the largest oak grove in an urban area in Europe, covering 84.42 ha. This green oasis next to the zoo is a favourite recreation and sports area for city residents, where you can come across the symbol of Kaunas – the aurochs – stroll through the valley named after the poet Adam Mickiewicz, and admire the monument commemorating the flight of the legendary Lithuanian aviators Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas. Every spring, Lithuanian folk songs and dances ring out at the traditional Song and Dance Festival in the Song Valley next to the park.
