In Anykščiai district, right next to the Treetop Walking Path, in the now vanished village of Puntukas, an activity for young and old alike is on offer – an ecological barefoot trail. The trail is 1 km 200 metres long. It is a completely natural footpath set in the midst of nature, walked only barefoot. Walking through the forest, you will feel grains of sand or natural moss and rough pine cones underfoot, you will have to get your feet wet in a lake, and walking on bricks found at the site of Puntukas village, you will be treading the paths of history. The surface of the trail will pleasantly surprise you and give you the chance to experience incredible sensations. Our ancestors used to say that walking barefoot in nature is simply essential. It strengthens our immune system, helps us relax and massages the nerve zones on the soles of the feet which, when pressed or touched, directly affect our organs. Almost all of the body's biologically active points are located in the limbs. Reflexology also helps to fight everyday stress and tension and brings harmony to body and soul. A foot massage is perhaps the most pleasant of all kinds of massage. It relaxes, relieves fatigue, improves sleep and has a positive effect on the whole body. The barefoot trail is not only a way to improve your health or relax in the fresh air. The more curious will have the chance to learn about forest animals and see what a wild boar's lair or a real bog looks like. Those looking not only for nature but also for inspiration will be able to read the whole of Antanas Baranauskas' poem "Anykščių šilelis" (The Forest of Anykščiai) along the trail. Rest areas have been set up for a breather, and after your barefoot walk you can refresh your feet in comfortable lake-water showers.
