If you're looking for a place to see a spectacle you've never seen before and relax at the same time, visit the unique Zarasai Observation Wheel, which offers a panoramic view of Lake Zarasas. This structure with its distinctive architecture opened in autumn 2011. It is 17 metres high, and the ramp has a diameter of a full 34 metres. From its 100-metre walkway a captivating panorama of Lake Zarasas opens up. Right next to it you can explore a cultural space – a stone sculpture park. Going down the steps, you can stroll along the 1.4 km walking and cycling path around the shore of Lake Zarasas and see the sculptures along the shore. If you feel like stopping for a while, there are benches with a view of the picturesque landscape. Sitting here you can watch all sorts of birds that live on the lake. Life on the shores of Lake Zarasas is in full swing. In the warm season visitors are invited not only to enjoy the spray of the fountain here but also to try something active. There is a boat rental point nearby, and those staying on land can try scooters and bikes. For the little ones there is a playground with all kinds of fun. Like all structures of this kind, the Zarasai Observation Wheel moves slightly, so it may make first-time visitors a little unsteady on their feet. But there are comfortable handrails to help you keep your balance, and in the evening they become the wheel's main lighting. The project's authors say the wheel's greatest strength is not its height but its attractive setting and exceptional views. The Zarasai Observation Wheel has won several international and national awards for its originality. Designed by architect Šarūnas Kiaunė, this graceful structure is now called the town's new landmark. You can leave your wallet at home – walking on the observation wheel is free, and there are no restrictions on visiting hours. It's easy to find, too: you'll reach it as soon as you drive into Zarasai. Since it opened, the Zarasai Observation Wheel has been visited not only by Lithuanians but also by tourists from abroad.
