Lithuania's deepest lake, Tauragnas, welcomes visitors in Aukštaitija National Park. The lake's winding outline, high banks and clear water give this natural wonder even more charm. Its shore is a summer sanctuary for nature lovers, where families with children, friends, anglers and travellers gather. Holidaymakers and tourists who come to the Tauragno Slėnis lakeside recreation area can leave their cars in the car park and stroll along the paths and down the steps built into the slope, with landings along the way. You can admire the expanses of Lake Tauragnas from two floating piers with viewing platforms. Boats can be moored at a third floating pier. On the shore there are 3 large gazebos, outdoor furniture, a beach volleyball court, changing cabins and a children's playground. The area is lit at night. The water here is cool, because the deepest point of Lake Tauragnas reaches as much as 62.1 m, so it warms up slowly even in a very sunny summer. The shore is also good for exercise – it is pleasant to feel the ground under your bare feet, as the sandy shore offers more pleasant sensations. Blue skies, hot sunshine and the calm of the nearby forest make for special moments by the water. In winter the lake ice is full of ice-fishing fans, who value the chance to pull a catch from the waters of the country's deepest lake. Skating enthusiasts clear the snow from the firmly frozen lake and make themselves a rink that suits them. A sense of freedom and space is guaranteed!
