Kulautuva Walking Trails

The resort is usually described in a few words: pine forest, tranquillity and interwar romance. In recent years, however, Kulautuva has been drawing more and more fans of active leisure. Its renovated walking trails let you walk or cycle one of six different routes, from 2.6 km to 6 km long. All the trails are loops, so you'll finish where you started. Hikers can look forward to the Valley of Gods and Goddesses with four rest areas and the cosy village of Karnavė on the bank of the Nemunas. The whole route is hilly, winding through sandy pine forests, with fine views of the Nemunas meadows. It's useful to know that a cycle path runs along the Nemunas from Kulautuva to Raudondvaris, so travellers with strong legs can visit both towns on the same day. About half a kilometre from the start of the trail there is a beach on the shore of a former quarry, which has been awarded the Blue Flag. According to historians, today's town grew out of the villages of Jučioniai and Tamara at the end of the 19th century, but people lived here much earlier. Kulautuva was first mentioned in written sources in 1364, and a hoard of medieval silverwork was found in the surrounding area. Kulautuva was one of the most beautiful resorts of interwar Lithuania, where the elite of the temporary capital built wooden villas. So we suggest soaking up the atmosphere of the early 20th century with a walk along the town's main street, Akacijų alėja (Acacia Alley). It also gives its name to an international bard festival that brings hundreds of romantics to Kulautuva every July.

Pati ilgiausia trasa (mėlyna) nebuvo tokia ilga, kaip atrodo, bet manau, kad žalia trasa vaizdingesnė ir jos pilnai užtenka.
