Although Kleboniškis Forest grows very close to the city, it has kept many features of a wild forest. This is because the Neris river encircles the forest on the west and north. From these sides the forest is protected from visitors, and various animals can breed here in peace, undisturbed. City residents usually come in from the south and visit only a small southern part of the forest. Few people go deep into it. As a result, the heart of the forest is protected from the flow of visitors and gives the impression of untouched wild nature.
