The grandeur of this church lies in its white space. The amount of decoration is stunning. It is said that there are more than 2,000 different decorative elements here. And those leaving are seen off by Death herself, illustrating the famous Baroque motto "Memento mori" ("Remember that you will die"). Another curiosity is that the founder of the church, Michał Kazimierz Pac, is buried here. His grave, in the crypt beneath the threshold of the church, is covered with a stone slab bearing the Latin inscription "Here lies a sinner". It is joked that there must indeed have been sins: in the 18th century lightning split the slab, and you will now find it on the right-hand side of the entrance. Pac can hardly be accused of modesty – another inscription also recalls him. On the façade of the church, next to the Virgin Mary trampling military gear, is the inscription with several meanings "Regina Pacis funda nos in pace" ("Queen of Peace, strengthen us in peace"). "Pacis" and "pace" not only recall Pac's surname but also send a meaningful message to Lithuania, then exhausted by wars and longing for peace.
