About the event
“Magiškas Miškas. Ilgės” is a special non-scary programme of the open-air light experience show at the Vingis branch of the Vilnius University Botanical Garden. In autumn, as nature falls asleep, the Forest misses the people who left it long ago, so you will find installations of abandoned homesteads, moaning tree stumps and forest dwellers delighted by everyone who returns.
The Ilgės evenings invite you to gather by candles, a bonfire and lanterns and meet your own shadows without fear. Five paintings by M. K. Čiurlionis come to life, linked by his symphonic poem “In the Forest”; cocoa scents the Treats Garden, the Bear's Mill carousel turns, plant installations glow in the Herbarium and the good Benosė mows down evil spirits in the Grove of Secrets. The show is outdoors, so dress warmly.
Entry at the arrival time on your ticket (hourly from the first slot until 20:45). The Čiurlionis paintings come to life at 18:18, 19:19, 20:20 and 21:21. The walk takes 1–2 hours.
